El Illes Balears Palma Futsal sigue escribiendo su leyenda en Europa. El vigente bicampeón de la UEFA Futsal Champions League superó por 3-0 al Sporting Clube de Portugal en una semifinal durísima, táctica, de mucho respeto y escasas ocasiones, pero en la que el conjunto mallorquín volvió a demostrar que sabe sufrir y competir como nadie. Un ejercicio colectivo impecable, un trabajo defensivo sobresaliente y la efectividad en los momentos clave dieron el billete para una nueva final europea, la tercera consecutiva, ante el Kairat Almaty.
El partido empezó con dominio del Sporting, que salió con más ritmo y peligro. En el primer minuto, Merlim y Tomás Paçó pusieron a prueba a Luan Muller, que respondió con seguridad. Palma aguantó el empuje inicial y poco a poco fue equilibrando el duelo. Fabinho y Marcelo avisaron con una buena acción combinada, y más adelante Bruno Gomes, Fabinho y Gordillo tuvieron las más claras de los de Vadillo, pero sin acierto. El equipo resistía bien, aunque le costaba finalizar. La primera mitad fue una batalla táctica, con mucha intensidad y duelos constantes, pero sin goles.
Tras el descanso, el guion no cambió demasiado. Sporting seguía siendo peligroso, pero Palma se mantenía sólido atrás y fue ganando terreno. A los 28 minutos, Gordillo culminó una gran jugada colectiva para romper el empate y desatar la locura. A partir de ahí, los mallorquines crecieron en confianza: Ernesto estrelló un balón en el larguero y Bruno tuvo dos buenas ocasiones. A falta de tres minutos, el Sporting sacó portero-jugador y, en una recuperación, Rivillos marcó el segundo desde campo propio. Ya con el rival volcado, Luan Muller cerró el marcador en el último minuto anotando el definitivo 3-0.
El Illes Balears Palma Futsal suma 23 partidos consecutivos sin perder en la máxima competición continental y peleará el domingo por hacer historia: ser el primer equipo en conquistar tres Champions seguidas. Enfrente estará el Kairat Almaty, que venció por 3-2 al Cartagena Costa Cálida en la otra semifinal.
